If you're tired of waiting for your mail carrier to stroll up to your mailbox with your Social Security check in their hand, some relief is starting to take place.

The Social Security Administration (SSA) has confirmed that it's almost ready on its switch to all\-electronic payments. The agency finally decided that it had it up to here with people complaining about never getting their checks (SSA checks go missing or get stolen 16 times more often than direct deposits do).

## Making It Easy

However, going from paper to digital isn't as easy as it seems for everyone. The Senior Citizens League suggests the following steps for anyone who wants to make the switch:

- Set up direct deposit online through your [Social Security account](https://www.ssa.gov/deposit/?ref=smartseniordaily.com) or call the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 (or the U.S. Treasury's Electronic Payment Solution Center at 1-877-874-6347) or ask your bank to send your information to the SSA directly.
- No bank account? The Direct Express® prepaid debit card still works electronically — call 1-800-967-6857 or visit [GoDirect.gov](https://godirect.gov/gpw/?ref=smartseniordaily.com).
- Can't make the switch because you're in a remote location, have health limitations, or something else that would make it tough to do? A waiver through the U.S. Treasury is available. Call the U.S. Treasury Electronic Payment Solution Center at 1-877-874-6347\. A technician will guide you through the process and evaluate if you qualify.
